Single-use plastics (aka plastic wrap, disposable containers/bottles, plastic cutlery, plastic straws, you get the idea) are one of the biggest contributors to the world’s growing pollution problem. Almost 300 million tons of plastic, which is made of petroleum, is thrown out each year. Plastic does not biodegrade and even when recycled, it does not disappear-it merely gets transformed into smaller plastic particles. Due to its overproduction and overconsumption, these particles have become an invisible yet ubiquitous part of the terrestrial, airborne, and aquatic environment.
We are always on the lookout for new ways to avoid contributing to this problem and constantly searching for new products produced by companies with sustainable practices and similar modus operandi. Recently we discovered Etee, a company founded with the sole purpose of combating the additional creation of single-use plastics. Their way of doing this was by creating a food wrap out of beeswax, essential oils, non-gmo soy wax, coniferous tree resin and organic cotton cloth. These plastic wraps are reusable (they last for about 120-150 uses), natural, and completely biodegradable.
